What is Party Of One?

Party Of One is an actual-play RPG podcast focused on two-player roleplaying experiences. Each week, host Jeff Stormer sits down with a friend to play a two-player game. They share some laughs, maybe a few tears, and have a really good time.

Why 2-player RPGs?

Party Of One aims to explore a variety of themes, playstyles, and emotional experiences often overlooked in tabletop gaming. By focusing on two-player games (also called One-On-One games or RPG Duets), the show is able to capture a sense of intimacy and intensity rarely seen in actual play.  Plus, it’s easier to schedule.

Where Should I Start?

Episodes range from hilarious to heartbreaking, covering just about every genre and setting under the sun. And because most episodes are self-contained stories, the show’s backlog is unique, in that you can freely pick and choose the episodes that are most exciting for you.

Here are a few recommended starting points by mood, to give you an idea of where to dive in:

What people are saying

“Party of One is hands down the best 1:1 podcast out there, and I say that as someone who hosts a 1:1 actual play podcast! Jeff brings on the best guests and is fantastic at creating great RP space. If you start you'll get hooked, guaranteed. Check it out!” -- Ben Wallis, Pod of Love

“This is the podcast that brought me into podcasts (and back into gaming). I stumbled across it on accident while searching if two-player ttrpgs were even possible, and guess what? They are, and they're great! Jeff runs a broad variety of games; Party of One is good both as a reference and as entertainment. Give it a shot!” -- iTunes reviewer Wingbones

“This show is the best showcase for one-player-and-a-GM and 2-player GMless games out there. The host is wonderfully personable and does and excellent job of making the material sing. I've bought a number of games I'd never have heard of if it weren't for this show, and I alway eagerly await the next episode.” -- iTunes reviewer Observer138

“Party Of One is easily the most bingeable actual play podcast out right now.” -- Cory Strain, Zeroes Talking Heroes

“Chalk me up as one more gamer who was pretty dubious about one-on-one games until I started listening to this podcast. Listening to it is so satisfying — it's like a series of interesting, diverse short stories, with the added bonus that every episode teaches me about a new game I might want to try with a friend. The GM is creative, quick on his feet, and generous with his play partner, which makes this show tremendously entertaining.” -- iTunes reviewer “Oh how I hate iTunes”

“Never has an AP podcast hit so many different tones and adventures so quickly. Each episode is a different system, a different story, and a different style. I love the way Jeff brings people in to his show and boosts them up, and he also just tells a heck of a tale. There's something in here for everyone, and it deserves to be listened to.” -- Nick Robertson, Tabletop Squadron

“It's really cool. Jeff's a really great game master, because he takes a lot of these games designed for many people... and he brings it down to just two players, and he makes it work, and it works well. Everything feels like it could have been designed as a two-player game. I think that would be a hard thing to do, and I really applaud Jeff for being able to do that, and doing it as well as he does." --Kent Blue, Roll To Play

“When I first started listening to Party of One, it was as a curiosity. Immediately I was hooked by the enthusiasm and joy Jeff brings to gaming. The variety of games playing on Party of One is just about unmatched in the Actual Play pod-scene, every week a new episode with few repeats of games! He has on a variety of excellent guests and the list is ever-growing for who he will have on soon! Being really honest, Party of One has led me to play more 2 player games. If that isn't a hugely stunning endorsement, I don't know what is.” -- Brandon Leon-Gambetta, Protean City Comics
